Stone House in Argolida

Stone House in Argolida

A two-storey stone house dating back to 1910, located in the seaside village of Kilada in Argolida, was transformed into a holiday home for a family with two children.

The ground floor was originally used mainly as a storage area and as the workshop of the village blacksmith, who crafted metal components for boats. Upstairs, a single open-plan space accommodated the everyday life of the entire family until approximately the 1970s.

When the design process began, the house had been uninhabited for more than 30 years. There were no electrical or plumbing installations and no internal partitions, allowing the space to be approached as a blank canvas while respecting its history and authentic character.

Inside, the original wooden beams supporting the upper floor were preserved as a reminder of the building’s past and a connection to its original construction. At the same time, the surrounding outdoor areas were completely redesigned and landscaped, creating a cohesive living experience that connects the house with the natural and coastal landscape of Kilada.
